These are definitely a little more reinforced. I have a couple different sets of wraps but picked these up and I’ve really started using them on heavy press days (shoulders or chest). My wrists are a weak point on heavy lifts, so I definitely need wraps and these seems to lock in a little stronger than the normal ones I have.The velcro area isn’t too small, it’s sized so you have pull them pretty tight and not by-pass the soft part of the velcro. There is actually a small area of velcro about 2/3 the way down the wrap that grabs first, and this seems to keep the layers from sliding apart or separating, which can cause a loss of stiffness. I like the idea behind that design and it seems to work well. One time that section ended up on my wrist bone, so the extra material was uncomfortable, but that was an easy fix and adjustment.I don’t use these every time I lift as they’re not as comfortable as softer ones (to be expected) but when I need the extra rigidity, I have these in my bag and grab them.
