I had a blast teaching my kids how to jump into a long jump rope, and there is so much more fun to be had learning jump rope chants and cool tricks! I bought this because I always loved jumping rope since my school’s P.E. class teacher supported Jump Rope for Heart every year, and I wanted to share that with my homeschooled children. This rope is soft and doesn’t hurt if you get hit. My kids were initially nervous about it (as everyone is) but their fear was assuaged when the unthinkable did happen and they were hit by it, it didn’t hurt and they continued to have fun. The handles are soft foam material. I did make the mistake of letting them run around on the concrete dragging one handle, and it did get torn up a bit, but not too bad so we made a rule not to drag it around the driveway. It would be fine in a grass or field setting if you like to play helicopter where one person spins a long jump rope and everyone else has to jump over it. The rope itself is durable and didn’t show any signs of wear or tear after an hour or two of fairly non-stop fun. I do like that it includes a rubber piece to stay in the middle and absorb most of the impact.

I ordered the 23 ft jump rope to introduce to the playground at my elementary school. I was surprised that I never observed children engaging in this activity and was told it was likely due to no equipment. I have many memories of jumping rope for what seemed like endless hours as a child and wanted to see if I could introduce this young generation to the fun. The students were eager to try and with some practice we were able to get the rope moving just right. Although the activity requires supervision on the playgroujd it has added another physical outlet to the elementary experience. I get nostalgic watching the children jump and have been watching videos to relearn some of the “chants” that accompanied the game (those that are appropriate, anyway). The rope is strong, the handles are easy to hold. I love the rope and I dare say some of my kiddos do, too.
