Super easy to assemble, all you need is an adjustable wrench. I assembled it by myself in a matter of minutes.The top level is a shelf that has a built-in anti-slip mat for the kettlebells. As you can see from the picture, it’s a true shelf and doesn’t have holes.The lower two levels are great for dumbbells. The rubber-coated dumbbells that I have don’t make a noise when they make contact with the rack. The non-coated dumbbells make a slight “clang” noise when making contact with the rack. If you don’t want that noise, I suspect you can attach a muffler to the rack such as strips of yoga mat-like material to it.

Very sturdy, super easy to assemble. I was going to wait for my husband to come home and do it. But I decided to just get it started and before I knew it, I was done. I opted for the white finish and it looks great. I like that the top “rack” is a more of a shelf so that even my lightest weights (2 and 3 pounds) don’t fall through. Plenty of room to hold lots of sets of weights. Can’t imagine how it could be any better.

I bought this because of all the positive reviews and because it seems to be the only dumbbell rack with a flat shelf on the top row. The rack came well packaged with no visible signs of damage. The top shelf is indeed flat for storing kettle bells, medicine balls, or anything other than dumbbells. The bottom two rows are angled for easy access to dumbbells. I like that the black bars are reversible for storing smaller dumbbells. The whole rack is easily assembled in 10 minutes although you must use your own tools since it only comes with the nuts, washers, and bolts. It’s lightweight but seems to be very sturdy and not at all flimsy. Overall, I am very happy with how this turned out since I am usually very nervous about shipping expensive equipment.
